ALCS GAME 5 RAMBLINGS!!!

OK, I want to admit: While I watched the whole game, I did the following things that I am shameful for: -The DVR (which can tape 2 things at once on two channels) was booked from 9-10, so I couldn't watch the game. So, I put the ESPN Gamecast on, while Grey's Anatomy played in the background. George helped a little boy overcome his fear of surgery. Touching.

-A friend of mine was at the game, and I suggested he leave after it was 7-0 to get some sushi. He did not, thankfully. For that I applaud him

Now, I admit this, and am sorry. who knew that the bats would finally heat up and the pitching would settle down.

If it was in a movie, you'd say the movie was stupid. Even the Indians didn't come back from so many runs in Major League, or Major League 2.
And they had Jobu on their side!

Now, before my terrible, lightly-researched, half-arsed analysis, I'd like everyone to recall some of my analysis from LAST year:

(from an email on 10/17/2007)

I'm not worried, and here's why:

-Beckett ain't lettin em clinch during HIS start

-Schilling ain't lettin em clinch during HIS start

-They aren't losing to a Byrd/Westbrook again. It's simple economics.

So, there you go.

damn.

Clearly, I'm a young Tim McCarver

So, I will say this: I'm not worried, and here's why:

-Beckett ain't lettin them clinch during HIS start, injuries and fatness be DAMNED

-Lefty Lester ain't lettin them clinch during HIS start, his poor start in game 3 be DAMNED

-They aren't losing to Shields/Garza again, it's simple economics. Shields is gonna be a mental wreck from getting his chance to start pulled away from him in Game 5.

-The Rays can NOT continue to hit the ball like the 1927 Yankees. Law of averages, they will revert to the mean.

-The Sox (the comeback aside) can NOT continue to NOT hit the ball like the 2008 Nationals. Law of averages, they will revert to the mean.

-No pressure on the Sox, all on the Rays.

-Sox have been here before, Rays have not. (I'm no fan of this, but I need something to hold onto)

-Despite what Maddon and his stylish glasses may say, it's TOUGH to bounce back from blowing a SEVEN RUN LEAD with SEVEN OUTS TO GO. That bullpen is gonna have the 60' 6" stare.
So, brew more coffee, because there are gonna be some LATE NIGHTS!!!!!
